Due to the entry into force of the referring modification of the “Law of Information Society Services” (Ley de Servicios de la Sociedad de la Información or LSSICE) established by Royal Decree no. 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain the express consent of the user of all websites that use dispensable cookies before browsing them.  

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies and similar technologies such as locally shared objects, flash cookies or pixels are tools used by web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, and to provide proper operation of the site.

By using these elements, the web server is allowed to remember some data concerning the user, such as his/her preferences for displaying the pages of that server, name and password, products that most interest him/her, etc.

COOKIES AFFECTED BY THE REGULATION AND EXEMPTED COOKIES

According to the EU directive, cookies that require the user’s informed consent are analytical cookies and advertising and affiliation cookies, with the exception of those of a technical nature and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user.

WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES DO EXIST?

Regarding the types of cookies, there are five main groups:

• Analytical cookies: they gather information on the user’s use of the website.
• Social cookies: those necessary for external social networks.
• Affiliate cookies: they allow the web owner to track the visits from other websites, with which the website establishes an affiliation contract (affiliate companies).
• Advertising and behavioural cookies: they collect information about the user’s preferences and personal choices (retargeting).
• Technical and functional cookies: they are strictly necessary to use the website and to provide the contracted service.

has_js This cookie lets us know whether or not the user has JavaScript enabled in the browser.

_ ga This cookie is used to distinguish users.

_ gat This cookie is used to differentiate between the different tracking objects created in the session. The cookie is created by loading the javascript library and there is no previous version of the _ gat cookie. The cookie is updated every time the data are sent to Google Analytics.

_ gid This cookie is automatically and transparently generated for the website due to certain measurement codes or third parties

PREF The use of location services such as Google Maps implies the installation of these cookies.          

APISID These cookies are used to remember the user preferences while browsing.

SAPISID

SSID This cookies are also used by Google to count the number of users who use the maps.

1P_JAR        

NID This cookies are used to make advertising more attractive

HSID, SID This cookies are used as security mechanisms to prevent unauthorized access to user access data or to the information provided in contact forms.

CONSENT This cookie from Google Maps is used to operate the Google map on the contact page.

HOW TO DELETE BROWSER COOKIES

Chrome

1. Click on the Tools icon.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Advanced at the bottom.
4. In the “Privacy and Security” section, click Site settings.
   • Delete cookies: Click on Cookies and site data… 
   • Clear cookies and site data when you quit Chrome.
5. Click Clear browsing data (empty the cache).
6. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer. Versión 11

1. Select Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click on the General tab.
3. In the “Browsing history” section, click Delete browsing history on exit.
4. Select Delete files.
5. Select Delete cookies.
6. Click Delete.
7. Click OK.
8. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox. Versión 18

1. Select Firefox > History > Clear recent history.
2. Next to “Details”, click the down arrow.
3. Select the following check boxes: Cookies, Cache, Active logins.
4. Using the “Time interval to clear” in the drop-down menu, select All.
5. Click Delete now.
6. Close and restart the browser.

You can accept or reject cookies individually in Firefox Preferences, in the History section available in Tools > Options > Privacy.
